While the White Marlin Open is known as the richest billfish tournament in the world, a prize payout this big is unheard of. It was made possible due to this blue marlin, caught by angler John Ols, being the only qualifying fish brought to the scales during the tournament. Tournament rules dictate how the prize money for white and blue marlin, and first, second and third place is disbursed, but with only one qualifying billfish brought to the scales, it became a winner-take-all payout.
The Floor Reel is a 57-foot custom sportfishing boat which is equipped with the latest in cutting-edge watermaker technology from Blue Water Desalination. Near-endless freshwater is produced by their Express XT 600 in the boat, while a ClearMate Mobile purifies water back at the dock for a spotless washdown. We are so excited for the owners, captain and crew of Floor Reel on this win and we are grateful for them entrusting their freshwater needs, both on the water and at the docks, to our innovative marine desalination systems.
Blue Water Desalination is proud to be the official White Marlin Open participant visor sponsor! We invite you to come say hi to Berkeley under the Harbour Island sponsors’ tent during Saturday & Sunday registration days.
BONUS! We will be raffling off a CM2 portable reverse-osmosis filtration system during the tournament.
If you missed the excitement and rounds of voting and cheering on your favorite teams this year, we encourage you to get ready to vote on your favorite teams in the next Marlin Madness, coming March 2024!
We kicked off a flurry of winter & spring shows in February at the Seattle Boat Show, the U.S. West Coast’s largest show! Held at Lumen Field – home of the NFL Seattle Seahawks, it was great to spend the week exhibiting alongside our friends at Sunburst Boat Company, Emerald Harbor Marine, and Breakwater Marina.
The following week, we crossed over to Miami’s hosting of the world’s largest boat & yacht show. Our Herald Plaza display gave showgoers the opportunity to experience our full line of watermakers and have any questions answered by our team.
If we missed you at either of these events, we hope to see you at one of the many other shows and tournaments to come.
